EXPERIENCE. Vision. Commitment

Regardless of party, every candidate for Person County Commissioner always runs on economic development.

In 2020, I obtained accreditation as a Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC). This credential is internationally recognized and requires 4 consecutive years of full-time economic development experience, coursework that typically takes 18 months - 2 years to complete, and a 3-part exam that has a first-time pass rate of 40% or less. It is often called the Master's degree for economic development.

This month, my certification was renewed for another 3 years, signifying that I remained active in training and practice in the field for the past 3 years. What's more, all of that experience (10 consecutive years) is focused on Person County.

It is not hard to examine a community and see or say things that could be improved upon. BUT, it takes a deep knowledge of the place, the past, the process, and the people in positions of power to effectively make those improvements.

The images attached speak more about my experience. Every board and committee listed touches our development, whether it be in the area of transportation, business support, workforce development, funding organizations, or legislative support.

I seek to be a Commissioner whom the majority trust to have the knowledge, experience, network, and resilience to make lasting improvements to Person County on your behalf while you work, live, and play, and to do so with a positive, collaborative spirit towards those who want to take part.

I have the ability to hit the ground running with no learning curve and no risk of disillusionment that new commissioners with no government background often run into, in many cases causing apathy.

Stay tuned as I share more about how I've put my EXPERIENCE to work in the past and plan to use it for our future.

As always, thank you for your continued interest and support!
