I’ve spoken previously about the EXPERIENCE that makes me a qualified candidate, as well as sharing my VISION for Person County.
In this post, I’ll highlight my COMMITMENT to promoting and supporting Person County.
At the conclusion of my 9th year with Person County Economic Development, I put my money where my mouth is and jumped over to the private sector in a role that would allow me to continue to support and promote the many opportunities in Person County outside of our borders.
I have remained engaged in following the decisions and activity of the Person County Board of Commissioners, the Roxboro City Council, the Person County Economic Development Commission, and the Person County and City of Roxboro Planning Departments and Boards by watching and attending meetings and interacting with board members and staff.
Likewise, I’ve remained engaged in the local, state, regional, and national development worlds through memberships with the Roxboro Area Chamber of Commerce, Roxboro-Person County Homebuilders Association, North Carolina Economic Development Association, and International Economic Development Council to support our development community and to maintain connections with those outside the county who are in positions to assist with our needs.
I’ve continued to promote Roxboro and Person County and the positive developments happening here to consistently keep us in front of media outlets, developers, state officials, and others who make up nearly 1,000 LinkedIn followers in the government and economic development worlds.
Some of the images posted here demonstrate how my promotion of Person County on social media has led to interest and investment here, with no financial gain to me.
In continuing to show Person County in a positive light consistently over many years on public platforms, I’ve demonstrated my knowledge of the place and my commitment to its advancement.
Voters can find in me a candidate whose interest in and dedication to Person County are not newfound or fleeting, because my voice has been out there for years, and it’s been out there as a proponent of our county.
Candidate Bio:
Sherry Wilborn is a Certified Economic Developer and a Person County native who grew up in the City Lake community as Sherry Clayton. She has been married for nearly 22 years to Jimmy Wilborn, who is a Lieutenant with the Person County Sheriff's Office. Jimmy and Sherry have two sons, JT (20), and Jack (18 in February - just in time to cast a vote for his mom in the March primary!) and have lived in Timberlake for the past 6 years.
